(2004) 'Fox Feeding Racket' Probed The pest control claims of England's 'upland' fell hunting packs - including the prestigious Blencathra Fox Hounds, was exposed as fantasy after the League Against Cruel Sports established that foxes are being bred and fed for hunting in Cumbria. Desperation Day The Countryside Alliance's Declaration Day turned out to be Desperation Day in the North West. One hunter even commented that before today "I thought hunting would be banned, but after today I know it will." (Nov 2004) Haughey Estate: Pheasants Die A POLICE investigation has been launched into claims that up to 700 pheasants died after being taken from a woodland habitat and placed in a huge pen on the Corby Castle estate of Dr Edward Haughey. Dead Fox on Antis Doorstep Hunt supporters dumped a dead fox on the doorstep of a leading anti-hunt campaigner in Cumbria. Sadly acts of mindless violence are nothing new in Cumbria, in the early hours of 22 September 2002, supporters of the Countryside Alliance march attacked and damaged a car in Cumbria simply because it contained an anti-hunt car sticker. January 1986 - Blencathra Foxhounds - Hunt secretary stated that 'roads presented a nightmare to hunt staff' and added that hunt's 'best doghound' was killed on dual carriageway at Thirlmere and another died on the A66 at Mungrisdale.
