| Lifelong Horse and Dog Ban For
Ex-Hunt Master |
|
Robert Layland, an ex-hunt master of the
Pendle Forest and Craven Harriers has been banned from
keeping horses and dogs for the rest of his life. He also
received a three month jail sentence and a fine.
Layland admitted causing unnecessary suffering
to five racehorses, eleven other horses were also rescued
from the premises. Although they have all been guaranteed
good homes it was originally feared they would be sold
by the Official Receiver to recover monies owed.
Blackburn Magistrates Court heard how the horses were
emaciated and lice-ridden, standing in three-foot deep
manure and unable to move. Happily all the horses are
now on the road to recovery and are being looked after
by the horse and pony association, HAPPA.
