| 8.01.94 - Royal Rock Beagles Out of
Control |
|
On Saturday, 8th October hounds from the
Royal Rock Beagles, pursing a hare, invaded the grounds
of Plas Bellin Childrens Home in North Wales terrifying
staff and children, many of whom were reduced to tears.
The hare was caught by the hounds and slaughtered.
League Against Cruel Sports Regional Representative, Janet
Smart said, 'Hundreds of hunt havoc incidents are reported
to the League every year. Clearly it is not just the wildlife
that suffer at the hands of these people and this particular
incident was an appalling example to set for children who
are at a sensitive and influential age. They should be ashamed
of themselves.
The League Against Cruel Sports has reason to believe that
the hare population is in a serious state of decline. Banning
hare hunting and coursing would be a good first step towards
the conservation of the species.
